Worked great.........at first
Was happy with this toaster until I had it for about 4 months.
At that time the lever started acting up by not staying down.
Sometimes it worked other times we had to prop something heavy on it to keep it down. Not what I expect from a $70 toaster. Well, I have finally given up (2 months later) and am sending it back to Hamilton Beach since too much time has passed to send it to Amazon. They are sending me a new one, which I am not sure I am happy about. Might just exchange it somewhere for a toaster-oven..........
Toastylicious
As much as a toaster can, this one makes me happy :)
It toasts evenly, and seems to be very well made in a tres cute-sturdy-classy way. The crumb tray is very convenient, and I think the slanted top of the toaster makes it even easier to get the toast out. This toaster toasts slower than some of the other models that I've tried, but I think it's worth the minimal extra wait. The Amazon price is decent too, especially if you purchase it with other items so that you get the $25.00 off, and of course, who doesn't love free shipping?
The jury is still out on this one...
I just got my toaster last night, and I was a bit surprised at the shape of it. You can't tell from the picture, but the toaster is higher at the back than at the front so there's this funky angle thing going on when you view it from the side.
Also, I didn't feel that the bread was toasted as evenly as you would expect from a toaster that cost $70 -- the sides facing the interior element were darker, and the edges that tilted towards the front of the toaster were also darker.
I haven't used the other features yet so I'm still hoping to be happy with my purchase, and I'll reserve full judgement until then.
