Combining traditional cooking with the latest technology, this versatile 7-quart slow cooker is ideal for preparing soups, casseroles, pot roasts, and curries. The unit's 400 watts of power and electronic temperature sensor deliver fast pre-heating and accurate temperature settings. A 10-hour programmable timer with three-digit digital display allows users to easily program cook times to fit their schedule. Five cooking options include auto, high, low/simmer, buffet, and keep warm, plus the unit can be set to automatically switch over to its "keep warm" setting after the cooking time has ended in order to keep food at an ideal serving temperature.
The slow cooker's "ob-round" removable ceramic cooking pot provides interior quart markings that aid in adding ingredients and a flared rim for easy handling, pouring, and catching of lid condensation. Its glass lid is designed with a silicone soft seal to maintain moisture during cooking, prevent edges from chipping, and reduce noise. The slow cooker's cool-touch handles are large and simple to grip, and the housing handles are secured with three screws for extra durability and reliability. Other highlights include a three-prong round cord, four large non-slip feet, a wall standoff rear bumper, and integrated cord storage. In addition, an aluminum inner liner, with a gently curved bottom that wipes clean easily, fits flush over the unit's exterior housing to prevent food or spills from getting trapped inside. The slow cooker measures 14-1/2 by 19 by 9-4/5 inches and carries a one-year hassle-free replacement warranty.
So disappointed with KitchenAid
Purchased slow cooker through Amazon.com on November 10.
1st crock was chipped, used it anyway and found it leaked also (crack I couldn't see).
Amazon quickly sent replacement. 2nd crock is warped and lid (1st or 2nd) does not fit properly - major gap.
Ordered a replacement again ... response from Amazon
"As it seems that the problem with this item is more widespread than we originally thought, we are unable to send another replacement.
We will investigate and remedy the situation with the item; however, I cannot guarantee when the error may be fixed."
We are SOOOOO disappointed with KitchenAid. (Amazon has been VERY responsive, as always!)
Cracked crockery seems to be a widespread issue
I bought the unit and used it twice, on low setting, for simple chicken and salsa. Nothing frozen, just refrigerated raw chicken and salsa out of the cupboard at room temp. Half the 24oz jar of salsa, chicken on top, rest of salsa, cook for 7-8 hrs on low. Cooked wonderfully, but cracked on second use! Since Amazon only allows returns for 30 days and KitchenAid only has a 1 yr warranty, I returned the unit for a refund.
Many people have said that while KA replaced the unit quickly, the new one broke as well, as did a third and sometimes a fourth. I think perhaps ALL of them have this same flaw, and I'm not willing to sink this kind of money into something I cannot use as its being constantly replaced.
This slow cooker crock CRACKS!!!
I bought my first Kitchen Aid slow cooker (having replaced my 10 year old small Rival) and lo and behold, the inner ceramic crock CRACKED- the first time I used it. It did not crack through and through- just in the bottom section. Initially I thought I had purchased a defective one since it was black ceramic and I reasoned I must not have seen the crack. I replaced it and amazingly this one CRACKED TOO upon using it the second time around. I called Kitchen Aid about it and the lady at the customer service section didn't seem surprised about my complaint- looks like I am and was not the only one complaining about it. I returned the item to the store right away, and ended up calling Williams Sonoma for their All Clad slow cooker which by the was is phenomenal. You get what you pay for.
Incidentally, I was reading comments about Kitchen Aid's slow cooker- another customer was also complaining about her CRACKED slow cooker.KitchenAid KSC700OB 7-Quart Slow Cooker, Onyx Black
